Maroon & White is seeking self-nominations
for candidates to fill openings on our board!
Maroon and White is seeking self-nominations for its Board. Like many charitable organizations, Maroon and White has board members join as couples, but we welcome single parents as well
To be considered, you must have a child who will be in Scarsdale High School in 2025-2026 (rising 9th – rising 12th grader) who is involved with athletics and intends to participate in athletics throughout high school. Ideal candidates have a strong interest in volunteerism. We will also consider which sports your child(ren) participate(s) in, as we strive to have board members whose children collectively participate in all Scarsdale athletics
Maroon and White is the volunteer parent booster association that supports athletics, physical education, student health and promotes school spirit. We promote school spirit providing end-of-season dinners for every team, awards ceremonies, Raider of the Week, and Raider Pride weeks during the athletic seasons. Our fundraising helps purchase necessary equipment for the high school athletic teams and physical education programs not covered by the current year school budget. Most recently, we led the fundraising efforts for permanent lights at Butler Track and Field and donated a new video scoreboard for the gym, funds toward the construction of the pole to hold the HUDL camera for recording and virtual viewing of games on Butler field, construction of the SHS Fitness Center and more recently new weights, a scorers box on Butler Field, a scoreboard and wind screens for Supply Field, a State Champions sign at the athletic entrance and championship banners for our teams on SHS lamp posts and in the gyms and this is just to name a few.
Maroon and White board members have several responsibilities. These include becoming a member of Maroon and White; placing a family ad annually in the Sports Journal; soliciting ads for the Sports Journal; attending board meetings, which are approximately 8 times throughout the school year; serving on at least one committee; and volunteering at merchandise sales and special events.
